Development of my magazine front cover

I have been through a couple of ideas for my front cover. When i first started designing, at the time my finished front cover looked like this: This is my original front cover, i thought it was ok but i think it didn't look very
professional and was a bit to girly when it has to
appeal to both genders. I also thought there were too many colours used on the front cover which made it look, to me a bit untidy. I also think that it didn't look too much like a music magazine cover.
So after lots of changes and re arranging, my improved magazine lo
oks like this:
This is my new front cover, i think it looks a lot better now, i think it looks like a music magazine now. It also looks a lot more professional.
I also have used a lot less colours also making it a lot more professional and i
also have lots more information on it, such as cover lines.

This is the slow development of my magazine. This is when i started with a compleyly new magazine idea.

Planning folder work

This is the work i have done on my planing folder. We have had to do things like analysing things and making questionnaires.
This is one of my music magazien front cover analysis'. I did the magazine NME because it features the kind of music i wanted in my magazine. I put all my writing into boxes because i think it is better presented because it is neater.

This is another piece of my coursework. We have to take six pictures that tell a story. My story is about the girl in the pictures getting stressed about work. I have put a small sentence under each picture so that the story is being told. This was to help develop our photo-taking skills for when we took pictures for our pre lim task and our coursework.

This is to show the variety of pictures i took for my pre lim task which was to make a magazine cover for a school magazine. We had to look at the distance, poses and all
aspects of how to take decent, professional photos.

This is a plan for my magazine cover , contents page and double page spread. I have written about masthead ideas, possible cover lines, and what the main features might be.

Finished Coursework - Double page spread

This is my double page spread, i have used the colours red, grey, white and black again. I think it makes it more professional using one colour scheme throughout the project. I hve also used the same font throughout as well. I have added drop shadows to boxes to make them stand out and an outer glow to the title becuase it makes it stand out from everything else. I have also added a drop quote because it makes the article stand out to readers. I have put the part about the bands new album in bold so that it again stands out to readers. I have also used lots of images because it also makes the article more interesting to read. I have added small boxes that have some information about the band members because fans are interesting in what band members are into.
I like the layout of my doulbe page spread because it is not to busy and difficult to know where to read, but still interesting to look at with my use of pictures and colours.

Finished Coursework - Front cover and contents page

I have now completed my course work. It consists of a front cover, contents page and double page spread.
This is my finished front cover, i designed this on photoshop. I have used lots of drop shadows to make the font stand out from the rest of the magazine. It also makes it easier to read. I have used the same colours so it doesn't look unprofessional. The colours i have used are red, white and black.

This is my contents page, i have again stayed with the same c
olour scheme accept having yellow as well. i have made the font quite big so that it shows what are the main features in the magazine. The other articles i have written in a smaller font because aren't a main feature. I like the layout of mine because i think it isn't neat and sraight, i like the sort of laid back look about it.
